Getting Ready for Sunday 11/20/11

Left side

There is something special about the people of God coming together for worship (Hebrews 10:24-25). Thus, we hope Sundays at New City are a highlight of your week. In an effort to help you get more out of it, we're posting a short preview of this Sunday's gathering.

This Sunday is week 3 in our series When the Locusts Come (click here for past sermons and study guides). This week we look at Joel 2:28-32 "The Age of the Spirit."

We're happy to have Ted Knapke as our guest worship leader this week. Ted is a member of our planting church (North Cincinnati Community Church) and one of the worship leaders there. We also will be hearing about the work of the gospel in Central Asia with Operation Mobilization during our Mission Moment.

Songs we'll sing together include:

  • Come Thou Fount (listen to Sufjan Stevens' version below) - "Tune my heart to sing Thy grace."
  • My Song Is Love Unknown (listen below) - A meditation on the love of God shown to us in the work of Christ. "O who am I, that for my sake, my Lord should take frail flesh and die."
  • Jesus I Am Resting (listen below)
  • A Hymn For All the World (listen below) - Josh Bales is a friend, and writes great music (prayers really) focused on God's kingdom.
  • Isaiah 43 (listen to a sample) - Song of assurance. "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name, you are mine."
  • All Things New (listen below) - Based on Revelation 21:5.
